More thoughts

MIT has a Media Lab called Lifelong Kindergarten Here.  It looks very interesting and I like their thinking; "people learn a great deal when they are actively engaged in designing, creating, and inventing things."  I was very excited to look into what they are doing, but it seems like all what they do is creating technology (computer programing).  Don't we need to teach children to interact with people not with machine?  Shouldn't we teach them how to be a member of a community before a member of cyber community?

Look what is happening in Japan, they started saving power because there is not enough power for all of people and also for all the technologies, so they started operating 3 work days per week in some factories to save the energy.   So, if there is no power, what is good to interact with other people through computer?

I just watched movie with kids called "Killer Willy".  A leading actor, a girl in this movie learns all the knowledge to be veterinarian through her father who is a veterinarian.  Amount of knowledge and experiences she can get from her father is incomparable.  Why can we do like this in this modern world education system?

Here is another good blog about lifelong learning; Wisdom of the Hands by Doug Stowe  I like the blog of Oct. 4th 2010, "a new plan for education".
